[at-l] Hello and a ?

hello list- 

this is tim i just recently signed onto this list and am really enjoying
the content.  i am currently a sophomore at luther college, which is in
decorah IA  (the only hilly part of IA)

just a couple of questions:

1.  does anybody have any experience with the lowe alpine crossbow series
of packs.  i am looking into a new pack and that one appears to be the best
choice as far as comfort and size go.

2.  are there any suggestions for 5-6 day hikes in the midwest?  i really
want to go somewhere cheap and quick for spring break.  last year i went to
the smokies but this year i can't afford that.
