Bears are usually not the enemy. I've spent alot of time in the woods,
and
as long as I have my pack and food bag IN MY PERSONAL POSSESSION there
has
never been a reason to be concerned about black bears. Why not try a 
different approach and just enjoy them. Watch them, and you may learn
something.
