Gotta agree with all the ones Tom picked for you.  But would also add two of
my all time favorites (especially in the fall) --

1.) Park at Crawford Notch Hostel on Rte. 302.  Go up Crawford Path to Mt.
Clinton (Pierce) over to Jackson, and then take the Webster-Cliff Trail over
to Mt. Webster.  The Webster-Cliff will take you to the Webster-Jackson
trail and back down to Rte. 302 less than 1/4 mile from your car.   If
you're an obsessive peak-bagger, you can run over and bag Mt. Eisenhower
which is just a stones throw from Clinton.  Great views from all & pretty
trails.

2.) Bring your bike to Crawford Notch Hostel on Rte. 302.  Bring your car
back down to the Willey House Site on 302.  You can bag Mts. Willey, Field &
