[at-l] torso size

Hi all!  I'm brand new at this so bear with me please!  I am planning 
on thru hiking the trail in 1998 and am looking for a pack.  I am 
only 5'1" and want to make sure the fit is right.  How do I measure 
my torso size accurately to know what size to order??  Any 
recommendations on which packs fit us shorter folks the best is
appreciated as well!!
