Let's see now. If you start around 3000 feet and end up a little over
5000 feet that will be a difference of 2000. Divide that by about 2000
miles. One foot gain in elevation for each mile. Gee, the AT is
effectively flat!!! I guess, hills only exist in your mind.  Hopeful
