[at-l] Extending the AT
Marathons are 26 miles, 385 yards long. A square acre is 208.8 feet by
208.8 feet. 12 inches in a foot. None of these things make sense, but
thats the way they are. And should be. The AT runs from Springer to
Katahdin. Thats the way it is, and should be. You often times hear of the
bittersweetness a thru-hiker experiences when approaching his terminus.
The goal is nearly reached :-) but the trip is nearly over :-( Extending
the Trail would make it a little harder to see that carrot out there. In
my ten years of AT hiking, I have never heard anyone, at anytime,
complain that the AT is TOO SHORT.
