[at-l] Bear Attacks



I've been told that the advice to stand still (not if the bear is charging)
if you run up on a black bear is not based upon the fact that they have bad
eyesight (which they don't) but based on the fact that if you see one it's:
(1) probably a female and
(2) might have cubs
so the reason to stand still is to keep from getting between the cubs and the
mom. Anyone else heard this and does it make sense?
