Andy,
I waited until I spoke to Bob to respond to your message to the list.  
My first thoughts were that Bob was in the company of some rude FOLKS,
and Bob confirmed that completely.  We also have a nearby neighbor that
is a police officer... he's helpful, thoughtful, respectful, and
generally a good neighbor too!
