time on the AT, where you first saw a white blaze?

Hello All,
This is a good question that has brought back some wonderful
memories of my youth. The first AT blaze I saw was not white but orange.
My grandparents owned land at the end of the Joe Ranger Road & Thistle
Hill near West Hartford, VT. Any thru hikers remember the big green
bridge and taken a dive off it into the White River. On their property
was a trail that had diamond shaped orange metal markers with black
letters or blazes of orange and black paint. I was about 7 when I started
to follow this trail. I didn't know it was the AT or where it went. All I
wanted to do was follow it. The enchantment of the trail started then.
That was forty years ago and the enchantment is still growing. BTW the
orange blazes where the AT markings of the section maintained by the
Dartmouth Outing Club. When I went to college I painted many of those
orange and black blazes. From Maine Jct to the Whites.
