[at-l] NY-CT-MA hike! woopee that was nice.

Hi Gang,

Wow 273 messages and I was only gone a few days. Woodelf and I finished
up our approx 130 mile hike from Bear Mnt Bridge to Sheffield road in
MA. We got back to the car yesterday at 16:30 EDT. Somehow my brother
managed to drive 11.5 hours after walking 15 miles! It was a sleepy
drive 1.5 hours to my home from Woodelfs home. Wow Im driving and I have
been up 24 hours! Sooo much coffee...so many pit stops.
CT is an experience. It seems to me that the trail in CT resembles most
every state I have been in. (ok so I have not been north of Sheffield,
MA). What I am saying is I saw everything except appalacian balds. There
were the straight up NY type rock climbs, swamps and boggs, beautifull
long green areas, long uphill sections that reminded me of Virginia, the
PA type rocky sections were well represented too. I think CT would be a
good proveing ground for someone considering an AT thru hike. This 55
miles shows a wide variation in terrain. Oh yea the long river walks I
really enjoyed too.
Finally before I doze off again somthing else I enjoyed was the New
England Coffee and Bagel shops. OK so it finally dawned on me New
England is not a State...but a state of mind. Some how they brainwashed
me up there. They were able to take a little piece of bread. Shape it
like a dounut. Then make a tiny sandwich that I was happy to pay $5.00
a piece for. Trail crossings with food less than a mile away were well
worth the side trips.
