[at-l] JaNan Express (Tag-along) Breaks Leg; Leaves Pack on Trail

As can be seen by the subject line, the JaNan Express, currently known as
Tag-along, broke her leg yesterday while hiking the AT. In the course of
her rescue, her pack, along with her boots and hiking pole were left along
the side of the trail. She would really appreciate it if someone would
return these items to her.

They were left in the Bland, Virginia area, 5 miles from VA Highway 615.
More specifically, on the AT approximately 1.5 - 2 miles south of the
Jenkins Ridge Shelter.

They consist of a dark blue Kelty external frame backpack with pack cover.
The pack has 1 purple pocket, an AT "Maine to Georgia" patch on the flap; a
peach-colored "Deep South 93" patch; and a National Park patch with the
insignia "Great Smokey Mountains National Park NC/TN".

Her boots are there also. They are Vasques. Also left behind was her
Sierra Designs tent, food sack, etc.

JaNan Express' (Tag-along's) real name is Jan Kerns. She is currently at
the Wythe Co. (Va.) Community Hospital in Wytheville, Va. The telephone
no. at the hospital is 540-228-0301. She will be there for only a day or
two.

Her daughter's name and telephone number are Dawn Shoffner 423-983-0399
(Louisville, TN). Jan will be going to her daughter's house as soon as she
is released from the hospital. A few days after that, she will be
returning to her home in McIntosh, FL. Jan's home phone # is
352-591-3349. Her work # is 352-372-9602.

Obviously, Jan would very much appreciate someone returning her equipment.
