Re: [at-l] Nudity
Nancy,
Don't take this personally, but lighten up a bit. I go to the woods to get
away from society and it's restrictions. If the 15 year old girls haven't
seen a naked man before, it's not going to kill them. Like you said, they
probably would laugh their arse off. Why don't we do all the things you
listed naked? Society doesn't tolerate it. If I'm in the wildernesss and i
want to be naked, I will be naked. I'd wear boots and if there was lots of
brush I wouldn't go naked. How would you handle it? Once the naked hiker
was out of sight and earshot you could just shrug and say to them "It
takes all kind to make the world go 'round". I don't personally subscribe
to Christianity, but it is my underdstanding that your religion instructs
you "Judge not lest ye be judged" or something similar (forgive my
paraphrasing of scripture, I don't mean to offend). If anyone intends to
engage me in a religious debate/conversation please take it to private
e-mail and don't clutter the list with off-topic stuff.If you've ever
spent time on the west coast (especially around berkeley) you probably
noticed a little different societal perpsective on nudity, it's quite
common actually. I'd consider the yuppie asshole in a restaurant treating
the waitstaff like servants as a worse thing for youngsters to witness
than a man in his natural state. your argument about "pure" naked hiking
is certainly valid, but I don't think it's the intention of someone hiking
naked to conform to some set of "pure" rules, quite the opposite actually,
to put it succinctly "screw the rules, hike your own hike, live your own
life and if people aren't causing you or others harm, leave them be, we
have to much govt and regulation as it is" That is my philosophy in 35
words or less. The liklihood of you encountering a naked hiker are
probably less than of winning the lottery, I wouldn't worry about it.
Again, I don't mean to offend, but I say what I think. take it for what
it's worth......
