Re: [at-l] Tight boots

I've heard (Felix, correct me if I'm wrong) that you can stretch boots in
another way.

1) fill the toes with beans (any flavor you choose . . . I like refried
beans)

2) tie the boot tops to a stationary device (a tree or boulder) so as to
keep the top open and accessible

3) roust out the nearest wildlife (bears, mice, dogs, skunks, or Bamamans)
and point them in the direction of the boots

4) stand back and enjoy the show

Depending on the amount of stretching needed, adjust the quantity of beans
and the size of the animal. Additionally, watch the type of beans . . .
some are known to distort the color of the leather.

I've seen this attempted by a desperate hiker with M&Ms . . . Luring the
thru hikers to the boots was easy; however things became extremely sticky
and one hiker got stuck and another wanted to camp (it was a cold day,
after all) . . .

Happy Trails,
