[at-l] Trail Work with the North Chapter of PATC

This is my first message to the list, so please bear with me. I just
wanted to share what a great time I had this past weekend on a work trip
with the North Chapter of the Potomac AT Club.

We installed several water bars and check dams on a half mile stretch of
the AT just South of the Birch Run Shelters in the Michaux (sp?) State
Forest in Pennsylvania, about 10-20? miles North of Maryland. Hope you
followed that! This was my first work trip and my first time on the AT
in about 20 years (since I was a Boy Scout). I had a good time & really
learned a lot. Before this weekend, I had no clue as to what a water
bar even was.

The folks I met, who are from the North Chapter, are a really wild bunch
ranging in age from about 15 to 75. They are all full of stories (if
you see Esther, make sure you ask her the one about the farmer's dog,
the corn cob, and the turpentine).

Thanks to Charlie, Steve, Pete, Ester, Sam, Chris (1 & 2), Robert,
Richard, Dave, & Ed, and everyone else.

See you on the trail,
Tom Kreider
