Re: [at-l] gear choice in stark relief

I bought an Eddie Bauer GTX jacket a year ago ($150) and love it.
I've hiked in the pouring rain w/o a drop of water getting through. I
have sweated in it some during the summer heat but not near as much
as I have under an Army poncho. During the winter, I wear it over
fleece or Army field coat liner. On camping trips it even keeps the
layers under it from smelling like smoke! Only the jacket gets the
smell. I wash it in warm water, hang it up to dry, and wear it to
work the next day. By far more versatile (and therefore more
economical in my mind) than the rubberized alternative. I highly
recommend it especially since there are even better choices out there
than Eddie Bauer.
