I think Ray Jardine's "PCT Hiker's Handbook" should be mandatory reading for
anyone considering a long hike.  The "Pyramid of Hiking Style" concept is
something I wish I had had a better grasp of before my hike.  The lighter you
go, the lighter you _can_ go, and so the further you go with no extra effort.
