[at-l] Compasses (compii?)

Seems to me that a compass could cause as much trouble as it does good. 
The trail never runs the same direction for very long. With switchbacks 
and following ridgelines (no matter their direction) you could check your 
compass for north, even though that way may be "Trail-South"  Just a 
thought...
