Maybe a cultural note is in order...if you ever see a real Sherpa
laboring
under someone else's load, it is certain the individual is either
desperate
for cash or working for outrageous wages.
As a general rule, ethnic Sherpas require a high degree of "motivation"
before agreeing to work as porters. The stereotype of Sherpa as porter
is an artifact of past imperialism.
