[at-l] sewing needles, velcro, lightbulbs
Sewing needles are so tiny and useful that there's no excuse for not taking
a few on a long hike. A friend who sews suggests a good way to carry them:
Store needles between two mating pieces of Velcro; that way they won't stab
you or get lost, and you might need to sew the Velcro to something. (I
usually use glue to attach Velcro, but that's another story.)
I would add that Velcro is also a good place to store extra bulbs for
MiniMag flashlights. The bulbs have relatively short life (about 2.5 sets
of batteries), so it's a good idea to take at least one spare in addition
to the one in the flashlight base.
