[at-l] trail expectations

Someone asked about trail expectations, and was it what we
thought it would be:

In my experience, I thought it was important not to really
expect anything, except that this will be the single hardest
thing you have ever attempted. Most of the successful (made it
Maine) hikers I knew went into each day with the expectation
only that it would be new. If you expect certain things
(lovely spring days each day, warm dry nights, level terrain,
few people, flowers, sunshine) and then don't get them, it is
easier for you to quit this hiking thing and go back to what
you know. I want everyone here to have the best chances
possible. I would say ho out there expecting 6 months of a
life you have never lived before. :)
