First ,James, no truce is neccessary. We enjoy reading your posts and a good
gear debate is just that, a good gear debate. I am a total gear head but I am
not a one brand bigot. I love gear from lots of different manufacturers, and am
always looking for something better. One of the things I love about backpacking,
and backpackers is the individualism. I bet if all the thru-hikers from Earl Shaffer (sp)
forward were to lay out their gear, no two people would have exactly the same thing.
So go out and buy what is right for you and don't worry about what anyone else's
opinion is. You're the one who gets to carry it , and if you are happy that's all that matters.
