I use the military style openers that used to come with k rations. it is
a little folding affair about 1" by 1/2". they are probably available in
army navy stores. They weigh a fraction of an ounce so you could carry a few
and throw out dull ones.My favorite sardines used to come with one on the top
of the can. recently they switched to a pull tab. I must have thrown out or
given away loads of them. The small size tunas that are packed for lunch
use (three cans to a sleeve) come with pull tabs.
