Re: [at-l] Military on the AT?

A couple of years ago, when at the Hawk Mtn shelter I ran into a Civil Air
Patrol on exercises. They had been walking the mountain all night, in the
freezing rain and 20 degree temps. They came up to me in my tent at about 1
am. That was somewhat frightening as twenty teens conversing (cursing the
foul weather) and foot stomping arrived around my tent.

They were attracted to the hot coals remaining in the fire ring.
Subsequently used the rest of the deadwood accumulated and I joined them
around the fire (beat shivering in the cold tent).

There is a cleared mountain top for helicopter landing site (they jump out)
on a side trail from three forks on the way to a long suspension bridge
that's is something to see.
