FWIW, an unlubricated condom makes a nifty cover for the front end of a rifle
barrel, especially in desert areas to keep out fine-grained sand. Works best
over a military rifle, with its flash supressor, rather than a fancy hunting
rifle. 

So now you know why all those soldiers in Saudi Arabia had to have condoms by
the truckload.  ;-)

Of course, I gave up carrying an assault rifle while 'backpacking' (for Uncle
Sam) many years ago. Besides the obvious lack of utility on the AT, this
shaves several pounds from the total load.
