North Carolina Fans : 

I seem to have 7-10 nights of winter trail time coming. Maybe more if I
wait 'till the first week in Feb; thanksgiving hasn't been ruled out yet
either.  I'm entertaining the idea of not hiking the Smokies. Figure
that out!.  So, I'm soliciting ideas for a section of AT.  How about the
first 10 days north of davenport gap around Hot Springs?  Or, south of
Fontana into the Nantahalas?  Directionally, north vs. south is still
open.  Any comments on these or any of your other favorite hikes is more
that appreciated.   Thanks a bunch.
