Re: [AT-L] Re: Enough on Electronics.....Lets talk Food !!

I started out on my hike fixing fancier things, but ended up with Lipton's
noodles and instant oatmeal for the convenience. When you're on the trail,
you put up with boring food, but when you hit town you go for it. Then you
don't have to carry as much food. At the end I was cooking three times a day
because it made buying food easier. I ate oatmeal for breakfast, Lipton's
and canned meat (tuna, etc) for lunch and Liptons for supper. Most people
had crackers and peanut butter or something similar for lunch. The problem
with crackers or bread is that if you have an internal frame pack everything
gets squashed. I started cooking my lunch because it made me take a break
and I was able to guage easier how much food I needed to carry.
(Incidentally, to cook my Liptons, I brought it to a boil, stirred, put on
the lid and shut off the stove. Wait 8 minutes and your food's ready....all
with a minimum amount of fuel. ) Of course, most people carried snacks, too.
