NJ camping
Crater Lake - about 19 miles north of Delaware Water Gap - has a very
well enforced no camping zone for 4 miles along the AT. I have met
many weekenders who did not heed the sign and been caught,
awakened, warned/fined/summonsed. The NPS rangers even have a bit
of a hike in to catch the evil campers :-). They patrol year round, even in
the winter.
I'm not sure what the issues are, but the area does not seem like a party
area, and I really have never seen it very crowded, even in the summer.
