Yes Dave, North Adams would be a good spot - That's just North of Greylock.
The campsite a few miles out of town is Sherman Brook Campsite and there's a
road crossing at Seth Warner Shelter. If your timing is right, you could
meet a lot of hungry hikers in this area and get around between the town of
North Adams and the two camping areas quite easily.
