Intro

I guess it's about time I introduced myself also. I live in east Texas and
have wanted to hike the AT for many years (I'm 34) but have never been
serious enough to commit. I have had the trail fever ever since I took a
kayak course at the NOC in N.C., the cabin I stayed in was right beside the
trail. I might be able to do a thru-hike in 97, or maybe some section
hiking. I have enjoyed this mailing list tremendously. One question
though---how do you acquire a trail name? and what is the history behind
this tradition? See you on the net.
