AT SECTION JUST NORTH OF SMOKY MOUNTAIN PARK?

  A couple friends and I plan on spending a few days on the section of the
AT just north of the Smoky Mountains Park in N.C. (about 60 mi of it) in
April 96.
  We don't know anything about this section, can someone in the know please
give use some info on things like the conditions of the trail, civilization
points, water availability, camp sights, general scenic attributes and
availability of a reasonable shuttle service to and from the trail?
