We have just joined the list and will probably be in our late 40's early
50's when our kids are old enough for us to leave and thru hike. Also our
schedule may be more flexible then. We are enjoying the messages  and in
particular the types of equipment people have packed..
We started to hike the AT this summer in PA and VA on short overnight and
day hikes with our kids. We managed 50 miles this summer and hope to do more
next summer.

We are also hiking in PA  on the Mid-State Trail, Link Trail to the
Tuscaroras, and the Susquehannock and Black Forest Trail up north. We hope
that the rocky trails of PA will prepare us for the AT.
