I tend to agree with you and find it somewhat ironic.   I should mention the 
public hearing was in Knoxville.  I had to work and missed the one in 
Asheville, hopefully the opinion there was different.  From what I've been reading it 
looked like the $52 million buyout was the option of choice.  Regardless, just 
the thought that a group would want to spend $600+ million on a road through 
a national treasure is beyond me.  That any option except fixing the backlog 
of repairing the existing roads is beyond me.
