Well, since everything but my actual words have been attributed to me in this thread, it's only natural that you would stagger in and take to this thread like a dog to slobber.  The words you quote below are not mine.  Take another twenty seconds and figure out who said what.  
   
  Please don't misconstrue this second request to set the record straight as an attack, and don't minconstrue this misconstrued attack to conclude you are a prominent trail figure.

Being out of the loop on exactly why Warren would qualify as a 
"laughing stock" I can't comment on the justification of this. When I hiked in 
1985 he was known as a Trail figure for his through-hiking clinic. I like the 
fact that the community was small enough back then that Warren answered a 
register entry I wrote on his return hike through our section in New York. 

However, seeing how prominent Trail figures are openly attacked by 
some of the less respectful members of the hiking community I would guess it 
was more due to this syndrome than anything Warren had done. Whether they like 
it or not, there's an element of the Trail Community that acts like a mob - 
even though their only apparent qualification is hiking a lot on the Trail, 
while showing little notice to greater Trail appreciations.
