[at-l] The State of the List

Well actually that is Ryan's job, but he is too nice and mild manner to do it.  Nope not 
going to defend anybody.  Me, I can spell worth a hoot and I have a PhD, but at least 
I can write a decent paragraph and I have a publication list that some of my fellow 
scientist are envious of.  But then i can't spell.  But then again a lot of people can't 
spell,  but they sure tell damn good stories.

So everyone has an opinion, Like I have concerns with gmail.  No one called me any 
names, just a good discussion.  On another list I am a wind power advocate.  I can 
recite bird kill rates, bate kill rates, etc.  Hard data.  I know the advantages and 
disadvantages of wind power.  No it is no the end all or be all and it is not the right 
option for all locations.  But things sort of degraded in the discussion quite quickly on 
this list.  I think this is what happens when amateurs start discussing topic they don't 
know a lot about.  This list knows a lot about hiking, so let us discuss that.  
Supposedly this is a list about the AT and hiking.
