I have a suggestion that may help this whole situation out.
RocksnRoots, I don't think that anyone on the list who has been here
for even just a week would say that you were not a strong advocate of
the Appalachian trail. What is obvious to me is that you have some
very strong feelings about the trial purpose and keeping discussions,
sometimes even trying to pull discussions into an areas of trail
philosophy that you feel may be neglected by most people on the list.

Now that said I think it would be very beneficial for you to write a
short opus, a NRPish "This I Believe" kind of thing, to define what
your view of the trial really are. And don't just say "MacKaye's
original vision", spell it it out in your own words and tell us why
you are in support of that view. Tell us what you believe and why.
If we all knew where you were coming from it may help out quite a bit.
If you have already done this in the past can you provide a link
where we can all get a refresher (at least the newbie's like myself
who didn't see the essay the first time around)?

Just a thought.
