I tried Skin-so-Soft too - bought a quart bottle of the stuff, mixed it like
I was told and went truckin' out for a hike. Couldn't stand myself, never
used it again so it didn't make the cut when I was packing for the thruhike.
And I was stuck with the rest of that quart of SSS. Well, until I found
some sucker to take it off my hands - but he got it free. <G>
Years later - Ginny and I were scouting side trails in PA for the first of
the new colorized PA AT maps and we took a bag of cold soda and beer for the
thruhikers. Left the bag on the AT where one of the side trails crossed
with a note that they should enjoy and leave the empties and we'd pick them
up on the way out. Got back later (a lot later) and just as we were picking
up the still full bag, a gaggle of thruhikers showed up. So we all sat down
and talked (and drank beer and soda) for a while. And then, in unison, we
ALL turned and looked down the trail (north) cause we smelled Skin so Soft.
But no one showed up for 4 or 5 minutes. And they weren't moving all that
slow. They weren't at all friendly either - guess we didn't smell good
enough for them. But at least you wouldn't have smelled us coming a quarter
mile away. <G>
Walk softly,
Jim
