Actually - you'd be surprised at what happens iin the woods, Rafe.  <G>

But for what "thruhikers" talk about - skeeter nailed it -

1. Food (my next meal)
2. Food (what I want when I get to town)
3. Food (resupply aka where/when and /or "I never want to even SEE Ramen 
again" )

followed (in no particular order) by weather, miles and who's ahead and 
behind and who got off the trail.  YMMV
