[at-l] "Good stuff" not found in books.



I doubt that it will be a problem in Scotland.  Hill walking is mostly day 
hikes from pub-to-pub, or B&B-to-B&B.  Try to visit Glencoe, if you can.

OTOH, if you are on a time restriction visit and plan to try one of the longer 
distant trails (say the Southern Upland Way, which can be backpacked in part 
or shuttled in a slack-pack mode) you or your friend might find matching your 
respective paces a problem -- depending on who is in what shape.  Some of the 
local Hill Walkers and Ramblers can move out.
