I think I hear what you're saying... but for
me, a view seems a modest and fitting reward
for having picked my way up two or three
thousand feet of rocks and roots.

Maybe I'm spoiled from tromping through
the Whites, where the views are stupendous.

I ate dessert first and assumed the main course
would be as tasty.
