"AT-L Mailing List. Debating the c-ll ph-ne since 1995."

Artifacts of civilization? They're all around you, even in the
woods. Begin with the clothes on your back, the boots on
your feet, your pack, and all of its contents.

Some are able to transcend possessions, and do not fear them. Most AT hikers
own gear that was manufactured in sweatshops by indentured starving and abused
children. If they can put that in the back of their minds while pretending a
long series of two or three day backpacking trips between Pizza Hut AYCEs is
an immersion into the "wilderness", they can get over the fact that two way
communiction might be minutes away instead of a few hours.
