[at-l] Re: Starting a Thru



2000 was also the year of the dot-com bust - lots and lots of people in my 
industry had some unexpected *spare* time...

When the dot-com I was CTO of busted in 2001, I considered a thru-hike.  I 
had just read "A Walk in the Woods" and a Scout from my Troop was in the 
middle of a thru and my son thought it would be cool and on and on...

As it turns out, I missed a chance to start from Springer in the Spring and 
another chance to start from Katahdin in the summer and then Scouts took 
over...

Now, rather than try a 4-month hike, I'm planning a Benton Mackaye Trail 
hike from Springer to GSMNP for the fall...   :-)
