 And yes, even though Jan does not know  why she hiked the entire Appalachian Trail, the fact is she did it and through  it inspired many others to do it and gave encouragement to many in their  planning.

Remember Jean Deeds?  She'd never hiked a day in her life, read an article about the AT in the Indianapolis newspaper, and knew that that was her destiny.  She was in her later 40s, too.  anklebear
