Topics and List Behavior -- [Was: Re: [at-l] On topic if ....]

Well, I'll give it a shot... as I was just saying to someone else on the list... my new motto is LET IT GO!

David Hicks <daveh@psknet.com> wrote:No, there are no forbidden topics about backpacking, hiking, and the A.T --
just some topics on which some folk have strong and often conflicting points
of views.

Legitimate questions, which may result in flames, do not reflect on the
"asker," but rather the resulting flames reflect on the flamers -- deliberate
trolls somewhat excepted, but, still, no excuses for the resultant flames.

I thought it was good back in '01. Still do. Try to live by it.

Any other takers?

Subject: [at-l] Pledge of good list behavior

Pledge:

When I post on AT-L:

* I will post practical advice about backpacking, hiking, and the A.T.
* I will post my feelings and thoughts about those subjects and topics closely
related to them.
* I will chat about fun stuff, when I feel like it.
* If I post about trail issues, it will be about my own feelings and opinions,
and not about the views and comments of others, even those who insult me and
characterize my own postings.
* If attacked I will not reply.
* When I read something I disagree with, I will not respond by quoting other
listers or arguing with them in back-and-forth postings.
* I will try to keep the tone of my posts good-humored and non-argumentative.

Anyone else?
