It is from his alter-ego "Lazarus Long".  You can find
the quote in THE NOTEBOOKS OF LAZARUS LONG. It is a
collection of LL quotes culled from the Heinlein
novels. The specific novel, IIRC (been a while since I
read a Heinlein novel...was a SciFi geek when I was
younger!), is TIME ENOUGH FOR LOVE.
