          Wise people will see the difference between soundbite "semantic 
purists," whose one and only argument is misplaced definitions of wilderness 
solely designed to bypass just about everything all the founders of the AT and ATC 
itself stand for, and the Trail as it is.

          These people remain silent when the tough stuff comes out and then 
resort to personal attacks. When asked to establish a common definition of an 
AT wilderness ethic only dumb silence ensues. It is stupid to the point of 
immoral to ignore the encroachment issues the AT faces and how this relates to 
it. Even worse for the simple AT to be seen as a list problem.


       Oh, I would LOVE to be there if Aldo Leopold could see Snodrog quote 
him that way...
