As far as I can tell, no hiking-related items were offered for sale during the series of 3 auctions of Earl's possessions that were held in the summer of 2002. All hiking and trail related items were willed by Earl directly to the Earl Shaffer Foundation, with instructions for them to be auctioned separately with all proceeds going to the Foundation for later distribution to Earl's favorite causes.

Stringed instruments? Aye, the Foundation has possession of 3 different guitars that belonged to Earl, including a circa 1867 Martin as well as a National steel guitar. Though they may not be directly trail-related, it is assumed they will eventually make it onto the eBay auction block, (assuming the eBay auctions prove to be a viable venue for selling Earl's hiking-related possessions).
