Another reason I was considering solar would be to make a statement
about the technology itself.  I am a big fan of solar and by putting
some on my pack I would hope that it would generate some thoughts and
coversations among others (past "what kind of idiot is that carrying a
solar backpack way out here?") which, I would somehow hope, would get
people thinking about uses for this technology in their daily lives
off the trail back at home.

But I could be wrong.
