Well, I'm thinking more in terms of...wouldn't you like to be able to go
someplace once in a while where you're sure to not have to hear a
chainsaw, or weedeater, or mower, or truck...or, anything? Noise
pollution. there probably isn't anyplace left in America where you can
go and not hear/see an airplane go over. Now, these things really don't
bother me. But, I can certainly see how some folx would like to be able
to get away from it (noise pollution) for a little while. And, I agree
with it seeming senseless to not use a chainsaw at times. Perhaps it
could be set up that the first day of every month is 'power tool day' in
wilderness areas and crews/maintainers could attack the big stuff then.
And, use axes/saws for the smaller jobs other times. Just a thought, I
think.

LOL!
There wasn't anywhere on the AT in 2003 that I didn't hear a lawn mower
(or so it seemed). I swear, people were packing them into wilderness
areas...
No matter where I was, I could hear a lawn mower in the distance, and
sometimes, from a mountain top, I could see the critter, way off across the
valley, zig zagging back and forth across a little green patch of grass.
