Gang,

I tried to read that book  before my hike and after I got back and it was 
worse after the hike. I think it terribly  trivializes  the trail and the 
mental and physical energies it takes to do an AT hike. I'm all for humor 
and so forth, but I'm afraid a movie based on his book could be detrimental 
to those that have an affinity with the AT.  I'd hate to see the general 
population consider the AT as simply a place to go and goof off.  Of 
course, a lot of people have read his book.

He's got several other books out on England, Australia, and I'm not sure 
what else.  In those, he does not seem to poking the fun at them as he does 
to the AT.

just my opinion for what ever its worth!  :-)
