           I'm not sure that is true. There are measures like public 
perception and its impact, connectivity's impact on the Trail experience and 
wilderness, and physical Trail changes due to cell phone-induced activities that go 
completely unnoticed by most. These invisible changes have huge potential impact 
on the Trail's state and quality - but mostly on its philosophical meaning. 
The fact that these things aren't recognized is worse enough...
